Job Title: Equipment Operator

General Description: The City of Delta Junction is looking for an experienced equipment operator/mechanic. Minimum of 3 years heavy equipment operation employment required. Applicant must currently hold an Alaska Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) and continue to hold during employment. Applicant must have Hazwoper Certification (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response), standard MSHA (Mine Safety Health Administration) or qualifies for those certificates. This is a permanent full-time position with benefits requiring 40 hours per week; applicant must have own transportation. The City of Delta Junction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Rate of pay will be $21-$24 per hour depending upon experience. Applications are available at City Hall and must be on a City form to be considered. A pre-employment drug/alcohol test will be required of successful applicant. Position available July 29, 2014.

Job Duties include but are not limited to grading and compacting, snow plowing, brush cutting, cemetery burials, sanding of streets, assistance with landfill operations and maintaining street signs.

Qualifications: Applicant must have experience operating a motor grader, compact track loader, compactor, front-end loader, dozer, end dump and trailer.

Applicant must be a self-starter, willing to work on-call, knowledge and experience of construction and maintenance of roads. Equipment and environmental safety practices essential. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees and the public. Must have the ability to plan, schedule, direct and complete specific projects in related fields.

Job Title: Finance Officer

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm (some week-end, meetings & travel)

Salary: $48,000.00 a year / DOE plus benefits / Open until 7/31/2014

The City of Delta Junction, Alaska is recruiting for a Finance Officer. The position reports to the City Administrator and the City Council. The Finance Officer is responsible for monthly financial statements and bank reconciliations. Prepares and administers the City’s annual budget. Ensures conformance with governmental accounting standards and applicable laws. Plans and oversees revenue collection and disbursement, payroll, quarterly and annual reports.


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Public Administration with Accounting.
Minimum of five years’ experience in municipal government accounting especially fund/project accounting. Supervisory experience helpful. Good office manner, ability to work effectively with the public in a cross-cultural environment, private corporations and representatives of local, state and federal agencies. Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadline situations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of computers, fund accounting software, word and spreadsheet software and office equipment. Familiarity with state and federal grants a plus.
